Myer’s Cocktail and Other IV Therapies

Client Testimonial

I had my very first Meyer’s Cocktail Infusion at Tucson Cosmetics. After having a headache for 5 days, fatigue and lack of hydration. Dr. Rubbani recommended I get the infusion to help all my symptoms. One minute after the treatment started my headache was gone immediately. I could not believe all the energy I had once I was finished. This 20-minute outpatient visit made me feel so much better instantly! It has been 7 days since my treatment, and I feel amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Rubbani and this treatment.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF TREATMENT?

Patients vary in the number of treatments needed, but most require infusions 1 to 2 times per week. Some patients experience improvement after only one treatment, and many report significant healing by the fourth infusion. People who have chronic conditions may need ongoing treatment of several times per week, or periodically every few weeks to regain their energy.

How is the protocol given?

In a 10-15 minute IV push.

Is It Safe?

Myers’ Cocktail is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive therapy that is well tolerated by most people. It carries a low risk of serious adverse side effects. if the protocol is administered quickly there may be a sensation of warmth and flushing. This is due to the rapid rise of magnesium. Some patients may also have the taste of vitamins in their mouth shortly after they are given the infusion.

There have been many published studies done by Alan Gaby, MD and Jonnathan Wright, M.D. on the benefits and therapeutic use of intravenous nutrients. Depending on the recommendations of your healthcare provider the “cocktail” can be administered once a week, once a month or on an as-needed basis.

Before your treatment: It is best to prepare for Myers’ by drinking plenty of water and having food in your stomach before you come into the office. Some patients may experience a general flushing feeling and/or a taste of the vitamins.

Myers’ Cocktails generally are not billable to insurance. If you are interested in learning more or would like to schedule an appointment for a Myers’ Cocktail contact us in Tucson at 520.638.5553 or at the New York office at 516.801.1106

Note: Patients taking digoxin (Lanoxin®) or potassium-depleting drugs should be cautious and should inform the clinic that they are using these medications before beginning the Myers’ Cocktail protocol.

During the 1960s, Dr. John Myers, an internist from Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, concluded that because of our digestive, absorptive, and detoxification systems, only a small fraction of the vitamins and minerals we take (either in food or in pills) were being absorbed into our bloodstream. He proposed that a harmless mixture of key nutritional supplements might be given in a single intravenous infusion– literally flooding each cell in the body with nutrition–to perhaps improve their performance.

Each of the vitamins and minerals Dr. Myers selected had been available in an intravenous form for years, but no one had ever considered combining them into an intravenous “cocktail.”

Dr. Myers experimented on lab animals first, then on himself. And now, more than 40 years later, hundreds of thousands of Myers’ cocktails are administered each year by nutritionally oriented physicians.

Dr. Alan Gaby, the well-known physician-teacher to most nutritionally oriented physicians in the country, has written an article on his experience giving 1,500 Myers’ cocktails.

Also, doctors who practice geriatric nutritional medicine often recommend Myers’ to many of their patients who are tired or mildly confused. It is well documented that older adults often have undiagnosed but serious nutritional deficiencies based on haphazard eating.
